Classic O'Connor
 New Book, Now Available!

Classic O'ConnorMany of you have expressed an interest in the second O’Connor anthology I have been working on the past year, and indeed a number of recipients of the newsletter have specifically stated you wanted to be notified when the book appeared. Those of you who made such a request will be notified individually, but I also felt the book’s publication was worthy of a special e-blast to newsletter subscribers.

O’Connor was, without question, the greatest of the 20th century gun writers. Articulate, opinionated, knowledgeable, and always interesting, he left a substantial literary legacy in the form of a dozen or so books. Yet much of his finest writing never made it to books but was instead published as articles in the popular outdoor magazines of the day. Most of this material appeared in Outdoor Life, which employed him as their go-to gun guy for decades, but he also wrote for Field & Stream, Petersen’s Hunting, True, and other publications. He even wrote under a number of pen names.

In Classic O’Connor, a sequel to The Lost Classics of Jack O’Connor, more than forty of his great stories, none of which has previously appeared in book form, have been carefully selected to reflect the diverse interests and wide-ranging knowledge of the man. The book includes a Foreword by his son, Brad; an Afterword by a close friend in his later years, Buck Buckner; and an Introduction, Note on Selection, and other material by yours truly. I also made the selections for the book and did the editing, with plenty of assistance and input from Chuck Wechsler, the Editor of Sporting Classics magazine.

Running to more than 400 pages, the book is illustrated by numerous photos, many of them never previously published, and is a “must read” for all O’Connor fans. I have the trade edition in stock at $35 plus $5 postage and handling, and of course I will be glad to sign and inscribe copies. There is also a limited, slipcased edition, and I expect to have a small number of these to offer for sale (at $90 plus $5 shipping) in two or three weeks. I will take advance orders for those as well.

Order online now through PayPal, or by personal check made to me and mailed to 1250 Yorkdale Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
